Status Update - July 2022

What You're In For has been live for a just couple days now, and I've already had around 40 orders! That might not seem like much, but as a gal spanking new to the writing market who's faced a lifetime of procrastination and doubt regarding her prospects, I can't help but consider it astounding. So astounding that I'm forced to address my feelings in this blog post, in the mode of prose I know best; I can hardly wrap my thoughts around the outpouring of love, support, and excitement I've encountered from those who have been following my progress on the novel. Sometimes you forget how wonderful your world truly is until it shows you, and for that I am eternally grateful. Because of this little summer endeavor, I've reconnected with old friends, I've made new ones, and I've felt the embrace of my community. It sounds cheesy as hell, but there's no other way I can put it that's as genuine!

I debated what I was going to do with the story of WYIF for a long time. Convinced it wouldn't appeal to traditional publishing houses, I set out intending to learn along the process of "doing everything myself," and to just get it done because I couldn't stand it being stuck in my head any longer. I told myself that even if the book wasn't well-received due to its large, diverse cast, often complicated plot, and subversion of conservative themes, I would be happy with what I had made because I finally made it. And yet I've had the pleasure of being surprised! If you've supported me, you know who you are, and you should also know that I love you and I thank you for everything. Lately, there's nothing more exciting to me than seeing your kind posts and anticipating your reviews. (And, hey, if you see a typo—let me know, too!) The Goodreads page should be up soon.

On that front, I'm just as ecstatic to announce that What You're In For is now available at my hometown's independent bookstore! If you appreciate local businesses, consider purchasing your copy from Neighborhood Reads in Washington, Missouri. You can also visit their website to order it at neighborhoodreads.com.

And one more thing—the Kindle eBook is out, too. If you have Kindle Unlimited, it's completely free! During the rest of the summer I'll be developing a self-narrated audiobook, sharing your reviews, and occasionally updating my blog here.

Thanks for reading!
